Damien Does Dinner

Damien started eating dinner around 6pm after Mommy gets home from work. If he had it his way, it would just eat fruit. But, mommy is torturing him with veggies in the hopes that he will get used to them. If you put a little bit of fruit on the spoon with the veggies he will generally eat them. If you give him veggies alone, he spits it out! It's pretty hilarious. Breakfast (where he has oatmeal cereal, prunes and fruit) is a pretty clean affair. Dinner, on the other hand, about as messy as it gets. Damien tries to grab the spoon, bat the spoon, spit it out, stick his hands in his mouth, etc. He does love avocado though (now, he didn't at first) so we'll be giving that to him more often. Mommy's gonna try some different veggie combos as well.

Damien Eats in his New High Chair

So Damien is finally big enough for his high chair! We tested his chair out for a nice Sunday brunch when Uncle Sam and Aunt Jane came over and made a fabulous brunch of eggs, sausage, and grits. Damien got to eat, reluctantly, peas and enjoy pears. He was not a fan of the peas at all. He managed to swallow a few bites. But he definitely preferred the sweeter tasting food!

Damien Eats His First Solid Food

Damien was cleared to start solids at his four month check-up. He has been watching mom and dad eat with great interest and the doctor thought it would help with his reflux. Skipping rice cereal due to the fact that it can compound constipation issues, Damien started off with some oatmeal cereal and sweet potatoes. Boy was he shocked at first with the new tastes. He loved eating. His favorite part, getting the food all over his hands and sucking on them. Yum. Since this first food exploration, Damien has been eating once a day most days and having some oatmeal cereal and now pears, carrots, peas, squash, peaches and mangos. His favorite appears to be the mangos. He just loves to eat though, and happily opens his mouth for each bite.

Damien Loves Visitors

Damien is a popular baby! Now that family are gone and we are settled, Damien (and parents) have been lucky to have a steady stream of visitors (often with food in hand which is much appreciated!). It's been nice to have the company and to get to show off our little man. And we are extremely grateful for all the meals people have brought us. Auburn made us a delicious mediterranean meal with lamb kabobs and homemade hummus and tzikki, Gabrielle and Big Guy (well really Gabrielle but Big Guy did the dishes!) made us an amazing stirfry, Odessa made us an awesome Japanese curry dish that we enjoyed for days, and Kate made us a super yummy sausage and bean soup and lactose free cookies. THANK YOU EVERYONE!
