Baby Craig Meets Cousin Mariano

Baby Craig's cousin Mariano entered this world on July 26 at 12:21 AM. He is soooo adorable. Baby Craig's parents were wide eyed with wonder and love, and grilled Mariano's parents Jordan and Izabel about every baby question they could thing of! Jordan gave Mathias a good how to swing a baby lesson, and Mathias picked it right up, he was also not intimidated by the baby wailing - a good sign! Soon, Mariano will be following in his father's footsteps and teaching Baby Craig what's up.

Nursery Progress

Major progress has been made with Baby Craig's nursery. The old Ikea furniture has been moved out, and the bookcase that Lorelei (and Mathias and Auburn) spray painted and the dresser that Lorelei crazily refinished were moved in. Lorelei (with Auburn's spray painting help) made the "Play" sign to match the bookcase and the jungle theme of the room. Soon we'll be moving the bed to the new office/guest room, and can then assemble the crib and put the finishing touches on the room. Stay tuned.

The frog on the left was made by Lorelei and the sock monkey on the right is an Oregon Country Fair sock monkey. Behind the monkey are embossed alphabet/number blocks in French (with French words).

Baby Craig Hosts Baby Homan

Baby Craig and parents hosted a baby shower for Baby Homan. A nice afternoon BBQ with delicious Top Dog sausages and of course cupcakes. The weather cooperated and cleared up just in time to give us a nice and sunny back yard. Since most of the guests were friends of daddy to be Homan from Cal, we went with a bear theme to give Baby Homan a proper Cal welcome.

Baby Craig's 1st Oregon Country Fair

To Mathias' delight, Lorelei agrees to take Baby Craig to the Oregon Country Fair near Eugene Oregon this summer for the Craig summer vacation. Lorelei demands deluxe camping equipment so the Craigs upgrade to a condo style tent with two rooms, a raised (hip height) queen size air mattress, reclyining folding chairs, and private potty (for those numerous nighttime bathroom trips). The Craigs take their last family road trip in beloved Betty (a "new" used car is in the plans for Baby Craig's safety) from Bethel Island, stopping to camp at Lake Shasta to break up the 9 hour drive for Lorelei and Baby Craig. Passing through Sacramento and beyond in 90+ degree weather without AC was challenging (thank goodness for ice packs and slurpees), but all made it with minimal complaints! The Craigs had a good time at the fair, selling cookies with friends at the Monster Cookie Cart, and noticing for the first time how many families and cute kids were at the fair. It certainly was a different experience than in years past.

Memorial Day Weekend

Baby Craig is fortunate, and gets to make 2 trips to Bethel Island this summer. First in May for Memorial Day Weekend (water was a little cold), and then in July for 4th of July Weekend (weather was nice and HOT and water delicious). We can't wait to return next summer with Baby Craig and show him how the wonderful Anderson's rock it.
