Baby Craig's Nursery Is Completed

Baby Craig and Momma were visited by Grandma and Grandpa Klein and Aunt Pamela while Papa Craig was away on a business retreat and they helped put the finishing touches on the nursery and organize all of the wonderful gifts that Baby Craig has already received. Papa Craig's reaction when he got home, oh I think this kid's nickname should be Pharaoh, he has everything a baby could possibly want already. Many thanks to Grandma Linda and Grandpa Richard for all their help.

Baby Craig Goes to a Gala!

Baby Craig goes to his first Gala! blueEnergy hosted its second annual Taste of Nicaragua fundraiser gala on Thursday September 23, 2010 at a beautiful building in Fort Mason. The venue was amazing and the evening, which featured a live and silent auction and a sit down dinner of Nicaraguan inspired food, was quite successful. The highlight of the evening was the attendance of Ms. Nicaragua all the way from Nicaragua, she was such a beautiful, sweet, mature woman. She certainly represented her country well.

The night before the Gala, Momma Craig was joined by her two friends Katie and Gabrielle to make 11 dozen cupcakes for the event: Banana toffee with cinnamon cream cheese frosting,
mango lime, coconut rum and mocha chip with vanilla bean buttercream frosting. It was a bit of a challenge given Momma Craig's status of being 38 weeks pregnant, but was made possible with the tremendous help of Katie and Gabrielle the cupcake elves.

Baby Craig Gets Schooled

Momma and Papa Craig complete their second of 3 baby classes. Several weeks ago it was a birthing class, this weekend baby care and breastfeeding, and on Tuesday the third and final class Infant CPR. Mom and Dad to be got to practice diapering, carrying, swaddling, etc. and got to watch the infamous Happiest Baby on the Block DVD. That Dr. Karp is a baby whisperer, we hope these tricks work on Baby Craig when he gets fussy and upset.

Papa Craig's first diapering experience - good practice, but way easier!

Baby Craig Meets Fellow Bear Cub Kellen

The Craigs took a trip to the South Bay to visit with Baby Kellen and his proud parents Jeff and Laura. Jeff is one of our best friends from Cal and we were so excited to meet his adorable 4 week old son Kellen. Lorelei got lots of quality time cuddling with Baby Kellen, Mathias received some good baby calming techniques from Jeff, and both received lots of good advice from Jeff and Laura. We can't wait to get the two bear cubs together.

Baby Craig Celebrates Great Grandmother Nelda's 89th Birthday

The Craigs went to Sacramento for the weekend to celebrate Baby Craig's Great Grandmother Nelda's 89th Birthday. We were joined by William and Locey and Jordan, Izabel, Alma and new 7 week old Mariano. We had a lovely lunch at a nice Italian restaurant - where let's be honest Mariano was the star of the show. Afterward, while Nelda rested Mommy and Daddy Craig enjoyed the wonderful pool at the hotel (weightlessness is awesome). We finished the day with a nice dinner at a brew pub in old town Sacramento where Mommy Craig enjoyed fresh brewed rootbeer! Happy Birthday Nelda. We can't for you to meet Baby Craig - he's so lucky to have you.

Baby Craig Goes On a Babymoon

Momma and Papa Craig go on their "Babymoon" in Guerneville, California, which is about an hour an a half to two hour drive from Berkeley along the Russian River. We stayed at the Riverlane Resort, an old "resort" with a bunch of old and simple cabins. Not exactly the luxury Princess Momma Craig prefers, but it turned out to be just what we were looking for - a decent place at a good price that had a full kitchen in a good location near sun and water. We were located right on Johnson's Beach - a great beach along the river where they rented canoes, tubes, chairs, umbrellas, etc. The also had a snack shack that sold the usual beach food at amazingly cheap prices. The resort was also located 1/2 block from Safeway and Guerneville's cute little main street.

We spent our first day - after about a 13 hour sleep Friday night (it was a rough work week), lounging and swimming by the pool, relaxing and watching movies. On Sunday we took to the river and rented a canoe and travelled rather far down the river, stopping at little beaches along the way for rest and swimming time. It was gloriously hot and the water delicious - we both had a fantastic time. Thankfully Papa Craig is in good shape and did most of the rowing. We checked out on Monday morning and then headed back to the beach, rented some chairs, umbrella and tube and had one last great day in the sun and water. Momma Craig was very content floating with the tube in the hot sun - ahhh weightlessness. Both the resort pool and the beach were swarming with screaming kids - a very good primer. A fantastic romantic getaway - we both feel really rested and relaxed. We are happy to have discovered this great kid friendly WARM river town and look forward to bringing Baby Craig back next summer.
